STRONG ROOTS ~ Tree Wisdom

A tree begins as a seed covered in darkness and then breaks up through the ground and grows toward the light.

But to me, that’s not the whole story, of the tree, of life.

Because the tree cannot become the towering presence and love that is its destiny - unless - unless it also allows its roots to spread

and grow stronger
and steadier
and deeper
into darkness too.

If when the tree first sprouted out of the ground decided it found the light and it is done with all darkness. If it decided that darkness is wrong and was afraid of it and tried hard to get away from it. Then when it would try to grow, it would fall over. It wouldn’t have the ground to hold it.

The ground we come from holds our destiny within it.
